Dotted like a work of art, the “Ho Guom Theater” project officially came into operation, becoming a new cultural symbol of the capital Hanoi, and Reich’s participation in the supply and installation of aluminum and glass contributed to the quintessence of contemporary architecture.
The Ministry of Public Security and the Hanoi People’s Committee decided to build the Hoan Kiem Opera House at 40-40A Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem District. The project started construction in December 2021 and was inaugurated on July 9, 2023. This is a cultural institution connecting with cultural, historical works, and architectural landscapes around Hoan Kiem Lake, creating a cultural complex in the capital. Recently, the 10best website of the ‘World Travel Awards’ (WTA) organization, honored Vietnam’s Hoan Kiem Opera House as one of the ‘world’s most wonderful opera houses’.
Ho Guom Theater is not only an art center but also a vivid picture converging innovation and tradition. The idea of building the theater is the resonance and intersection of classical, modern, and historical elements reminiscent of the first theaters of mankind. In addition, there is a combination of details bearing the mark of Vietnamese culture such as Dong Son bronze drum motifs, crane patterns, traditional musical instruments or images of golden turtles handing over swords… The modernity of the project is expressed through the image of the glass system and the details of the dome covering the project, the lobby roof uses relief details, telling the history of the nation. The overall project has a neoclassical architectural style with the functional blocks of a theater clearly expressed.
